KENT BLYTHE, MIKE DOOLIN and ROY GOLEZ, Class of 1970, had their get-together for an evening of non-stop sea stories and tall tales at Crowne Plaza Hotel, Ortigas Center, Pasig, Metro Manila. The sea story telling session would be interspersed every now and then with exchange of notes on diet restrictions on doctor's advice or scholarly dissertations on the efficacy of medication for senior citizens. Photo shows Kent, Mike and Roy showing off the buffet delights which they enjoyed. The three have been regularly meeting for the past many years and have even included in their discussions advices and tips to the coaches of the Navy Football team and claim that many of their ideas, particularly on how to execute a good triple option attack, have helped the Navy team establish a winning record for the past seven seasons.
Roy Golez was a special guest of Vice Admiral John Bird, USNA '77, Commander, Seventh Fleet, on board his Command Ship USS Blue Ridge. Roy, who is presently on his fifth term as a Philippine Congressman, was accompanied by his wife Natty and friend Congresswoman Janette Garin and her spouse Richard. The Seventh Fleet covers the seas from the Guam area to the Indian Ocean which includes a number of potential flash points like the Korean Peninsula, the Taiwan Straits, the South China Sea and the Indian Ocean.
